Business community towards sustainable development

Hanoi - The Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) held the conference, aiming to share experience and discuss about practical business concept responding to climate change on September 22nd.

The conference named "Sustainable development - Essential trend and its necessity for Businesses" saw the participations of representative of the Government Office, leaders of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, General Department of Environment and more than 100 participants.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ph.D Doan Duy Phuong - Chairman of VBCSD provided 5 methods related to sustainable development, green growth and climate change response including create conditions for small and medium sized enterprises, connect with partners, mobilize resources from society, ensure tranparency, develop measurement tools and promote private financial flows.

General Director of General Department of Environment Nguyen Van Tai shared the social environmental issues in the current economic situation of Vietnam such as: salt water intrusion, drought, biotransformation, etc while pointing out some environmental hotspots.

He also expressed his expectation in the solutions attracting participation of society, especially the participation of civil society organizations, non-profit organizations in coping with climate change.

Mr. Tai affirmed that in the last 6 months, the General Department will continue completing the legal document system regarding environment protection and biodiversity, etc.
