Carlsberg commits to decarbonize its beer factories

The Carlsberg Group on July 9 announced its commitment to contributing effective and practical solutions to sustainable development in Vietnam and the world as it has officially launched the "Together Towards ZERO" program, which aims to eliminate carbon emissions and halve the amount of water used in its breweries by 2030.
Under the company’s immediate objective, its beer factories will use 100% renewable power by 2022.

The program is designed to please the growing consumer demand for sustainable products at context time when the whole world is facing global challenges, such as climate change, water scarcity and other issues related to public health.
This program is an essential part of the Carlsberg Group's SAIL'22 strategy, which includes four ambitions: no carbon emissions, no waste water, no irresponsible drinking and no work accidents.
The strategy has been drawn up on scientific bases and in accordance with the United Nations sustainable development goals.
Reportedly, Carlsberg now has a number of factories in Northern and Central Vietnam, including the biggest Carlsberg beer factory in Southeast Asia, located in the Phu Bai Industrial Zone, Thua Thien Hue province.
"Global challenges, such as climate change and water scarcity, require a strong collective action," said Cees Hart, CEO of the Carlsberg Group, “We believe when we achieve the above goals, we will make significant improvements, minimize risks, ensure sustainable business practices, and become more friendly to the community as well as the local environment".
