Electric wire and cable exports soar over 11-month period

Vietnam’s export of electric wires and cables during November reached US$150 million, bringing the total export turnover during 2018 to nearly US$1.6 billion.

The figure sees a rise of 24.7% compared to the same period last year, according to statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT).

Notably, exports to China, Japan and the Republic of Korea continued to enjoy high growth rates, becoming strong markets for Vietnam over the past 11 months.

According to the MoIT Centre for Industry and Trade Information, Vietnam’s exports of electric wires and cable to the Chinese market over the ten-month period reached US$530.79 million, up 39.13% compared to last year’s corresponding period, up 21.46% in the Japanese market and a 34.46% rise in the Republic of Korea’s market.

At present, Vietnam has over 200 businesses involved in producing and exporting electric wires and cables, including several foreign-invested businesses or joint enterprises.
