PSNews - Vietnamese automaker Truong Hai Auto Corporation (Thaco) on December 8 held an inauguration ceremony in Chu Lai (Quang Nam province) for Bus Thaco manufacturing plant - the largest and most modern plant in Southeast Asia.

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung along with some leaders of Quang Nam province attended the event.

The Bus Thaco construction began in September 2016 at a cost of 7 trillion VND, with a capacity to produce up to 20,000 automobiles per year.

The plant is equipped with modern production lines and completed assembly lines, an automatic operation system and an input system run by "self-operating robots."

The Research and Development (R&D) centre has modern equipment and design software along with a team of competent engineers and experts. It would allow Thaco to design various types of automobiles with a domestically-made proportion of over 60%.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung highly appreciated the contribution of Thaco to the budget of Quang Nam province, and its role as a pioneer in producing "Made in Vietnam" automobile products.

The Deputy PM aslo asked Vietnamese enterprises, including Thaco, to create qualified made-in-Vietnam automobile brands that can be sold at reasonable prices, and be highly competitive at the domestic and regional markets.

Besides, Thaco should continue to improve its production capacity, innovate technology, and enhance the efficiency of corporate governance in order to produce more high-quality made-in-Vietnam automobile products.

On this occasion, Thaco also signed deals to export its products to Thailand, Taiwan, the Philippines and Cambodia with total sales of 1,150 units, including at least 550 vehicles to be exported in 2018.
