Lotus ponds lead to blossoming profits for Hanoi growers

Owners of lotus ponds around Hanoi have been collecting millions of Vietnamese dongs each day, earning up to VND100 million per month by selling flowers and renting their ponds out to people who want to take amazing photos among the lotus.
Mr Nguyen Van Hanh is known for having an 8,000 square-metre lotus pond with more than 10 kinds of rare lotus.
The lotus pond brings in a revenue of VND100 million for MrHanh.
Apart from the income from selling lotus flowers, his lotus ponds welcome many guests to take photos.
During the peak season, MrHanh’s lotus pond collects nearly VND4 million every day from selling tickets for sightseeing. 
From late May each year, when lotus flowers are in full bloom, the ponds in the West Lake become crowded with photo-taking services.

     Lotus growers have the opportunity to rake in profits from selling their flowers and offering photo-taking services.

Each bundle of lotus flowers is priced at more than VND100,000.
The lotus pond of Ms Pham ThiHien in My Duc  district, Hanoi brings in about VND50 million per year.
Another lotus pond in Bac TuLiem district, Hanoi is a favourite place for young people to take photos.
The ticket price to visit the lotus pond in Xuan Dinh ranges between VND20,000-VND50,000 and visitors can purchase lotus flowers to take photos with for VND50,000-VND70,000 a bundle.
