Newly established enterprises in 2016 up 16.2%

The number of newly established enterprises in 2016 reached more than 110,100, up by 16.2% over 2015.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment said registered capital by these new enterprises also rose by 48.1% to over VND891 trillion (over US$39 billion).

The average registered capital per business was VND8.09 billion (US$355,000), up 48.1% as compared to last year, while newly-established businesses created 1.3 million jobs.

A total of 26,689 enterprises resumed operations, up 43.1% from the previous year.

Several areas of business saw increases in the number of newly established enterprises, including the real estate (up 83.9%), health and social assistance activities (up 52%), education and training (up 43.1%).

Meanwhile, some areas reduced the number of new registrations over the same period, such as arts and entertainment (down 26.2%); and agriculture, forestry and fisheries (down 15%).

According to Tran Thi Hong Minh, head of the Business Registration Management, the number of enterprises which registered online reached 14%, exceeding targets set by the Government's Resolution 36a/ NQ-CP on e-government.
