Vietnam enhances its global rice ranking
PSNews - In 2017, the export turnover of rice reached 5.82 million tons, an increase of 21% in volume and 22% in value compared to 2016. According to customs data, from January to November of 2018, Vietnam exported about 5.63 million tons of rice, reaching a turnover of US $2.83 billion.

The Vietnamese Farmers Union in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Long An Provincial People's Committee from December 18-24 held the 3rd Vietnamese Rice Festival in Long An, attracting the participation of over 400 enterprises with more than 1,100 booths.
Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese Farmers Union Luong Quoc Doan stated that the 3rd Vietnamese Rice Festival was considered a meaningful event regarding politics, economics, culture and society, with the aim of promoting the Vietnamese rice's brand name to international market.

At the same time, the event was also an opportunity to honour organizations, individuals, enterprises, scientists and outstanding farmers for their great contributions in economics development in Mekong Delta region.
According to the assessment of Acting Director of Agricultural Market Processing and Development Nguyen Quoc Toan, after 30 years of renovation, Vietnam's agriculture has made great progresses. Currently, Vietnamese agriculture products are now present in 180 countries and territories across the world. Of the products, Vietnamese rice's brand name is considered an essential one and plays a strategic commodity to ensure food security.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced the logo of Vietnam Rice’s brand name, an important condition to identify Vietnamese rice. In addition, the festival also held many competitions and seminars on clean rice, climate change and challenges for the development of Vietnamese rice.
