Vietnam imports 51,000 CBUs in first half of 2017

PSNews – The number of completely-built-up (CBU) imported vehicles in the first 6 months reached 51,000 at a total value of 1.04 billion USD, up by 2.9% in quantity but down by 15% in value compare to the same period last year.

In June 2017, the whole country imported 7800 CBU cars of all types, valued at 171 million USD, down by 21.3% in quantity and 20.7% in value against the previous month.

Meanwhile, under-9 seat cars imported in the first 6 months of 2017 reached 26,600 cars, worth 449 million USD, increased 30.1% in quantity and 13.5% in value compare to the same period last year.

Vietnam’s major under-nine-seat car import markets were Indonesia (the largest market) with 8,900 cars and Thailand (the second largest) with 6,600 cars, while the number of imported cars from India reached 5,000 units.

Vietnam also imported 338 over-nine-seat vehicles at 10 million USD, down by 31% in quantity and 30.5% in value compare to the same period last year. Its main import market was Japan with 190 cars, worth 5 million USD.

The number of imported trucks was 19,200 at a total value of 379 million USD, down by 11.4% in quantity and 17.2% in value. Trucks were mainly imported from Thailand (12,500 units), South Korea (2,700 units) and China (1,900 units).
