Vietnam promoting environmental industry to be key economic sector

The Prime Minister has just approved the scheme on development of environmental industry of Vietnam by 2025 with the aim of basically meeting the need for environmental-friendly products of the country, and gradually exporting eco-friendly and competitive technologies, equipment and services to other countries.

As planned, this project aims to develop waste treatment and recycling technologies, environmental pollution monitoring systems, technologies to sustainably use natural resources, in line with Vietnam's conditions and the world's trend, while promoting the application and commercialization of research outcomes.
All equipment, devices and products made in Vietnam should basically meet the national requirement for environmental protection. Therefore, domestic manufacturers should satisfy 70% – 80% of the demand for or gas and liquid waste treatment equipment, and 60% - 70% of the demand for solid waste treatment and recycling equipment; 50% - 60% of the demand for waste classifying and transporting equipment.
Environmental services will satisfy the need of the society for treatment of wastewater, solid and hazardous wastes in urban areas and industrial zones and for recovering environment in polluted areas.
To achieve these goals, relevant agencies should build and issue standards, technical regulations in environmental industry, and attract domestic and foreign investment in the sector.
