Vietnam's automobile market is recovering

PSNews - After 2 months seeing a sharp drop, the domestic automobile market recorded a dramatic grow in March.

According to statistics of the Vietnam automobile manufacturers' association (VAMA), its member companies have sold 26,872 vehicles in March 2017, rise 52% compared to the previous month and 8% compared to the same period last year.

The figure includes 16,805 private cars; 8,278 commercial vehicles and 1,789 special-purpose vehicles. The private passenger car sales increased by 67% while the commercial car turnover increased 31% and special-purpose vehicles saw a rise of 45% compared to February 2017.

The number of domestically assembled vehicles reached 18,388 cars, up by 35% from the previous month while imported vehicles were 8,484 cars, up by 114%.

Total year-to-year sales of VAMA members grew 8% compared to March 2016. As of March 2017, domestically assembled vehicle sales fell by 1% while imported car sales increased 41% compared to the same period in 2016.
