Vietnam’s textile and garment enjoys highest growth rate

In 2016, the total export turnover of the garment and textile sector saw a growth rate of 5.7% but the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (VINATEX) expects that its exports will grow 11 per cent in 2017.

In 2016, Vietnam’s textile-garment industry earned 28.3 billion USD in export, up by 5.7 percent year on year.
The US still remained the largest export market with the export turnover of 11.8 billion USD; Japan continued to be the second importer with its import value of Vietnamese garment and textile of US$3.1 billion USD while South Korea took the 3
rd position with 2.6 billion USD of its garment import from Vietnam.
Comparing to its competitors, such as China, India, Bangladesh and Indonesia, Vietnam’s garment growth rate of 5.7% was the highest.
In 2016, VINATEX group alone earned over 41,337 billion VND (2 billion USD), a rise of 5 percent over 2015, with a pre-tax profit of over 1,430 billion VND on a 9% up. Its employees’ average monthly income was 6.7 million VND, a year-on-year 8 percent.
