Vietnam temporarily suspends meat imports from Brazil

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced that from March 23, Vietnam started suspending meat imports of 21 factories of Brazil, which have been under investigation of using unhygienic substances.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Vu Van Tam signed the decision to halt importing meats and products made from domestic animal meat and poultry from Brazil.
Accordingly, the Department of Animal Health will check and test all meat from Brazil that had been imported to Vietnam by March 23.
Only qualified meat and meat products will be allowed for sale in Vietnam. Other violation cases will be reported and punished under the regulations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Additionally, the Department of Animal Health will send an official statement on the ban to relevant agencies of Brazil with the aim of implementing this decision.
