2,000 athletes join Halong Bay Heritage Marathon

PSNews – The 4th Halong Bay Heritage Marathon took place on November 25. This was part of the activities to mark the 2018 national tourism year in Quang Ninh province.

The Halong Bay Heritage Marathon has been named one of the most wonderful race in the world by the Runner’s World UK. This year race was organized to promote the image of Quang Ninh, particularly Ha Long Bay to the world.

This year’s Halong Bay Heritage Marathon attracted some 2,000 athletes from 60 nations all over the world, competing in the events of 5, 10, 21 and 42 kilometers.

Among the participants, there were also various professional runners from Vietnam and other countries, namely Lee Grantham, a British athlete who completed 100 kilometers in the shortest time in 2017 and was the champion of Celtic Plate, Wojciech Machnik from Poland who is on his way to set a Guinness record as the person participating in the largest number of marathons in many countries in a year, Vietnamese famous runner Nguyen Tien Hung, who won the China-ASEAN International Marathon, and Malaysian athlete Low Kuan Sow, the oldest runner in the 42km race when he is 76 this year.
