500 ethnic artists join cultural festival in Quang Nam

PSNews-On the evening of June 11, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee opened The Cultural Exchange and Lunar New Year’s Pole Setting up Ritual Festival of ethnic groups in Vietnam themed “Cultural Features of Mountainous Quang Nam” in Tay  Giang District, Quang Nam.

The program is part of a series of cultural activities of the 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2017, with the participation of about 500 artisans, actors of ethnic minorities from 14 provinces and cities nationwide such as Katu, Cor, Gie Trieng, Xo dang (Quang Nam); Mnong (Dak Nong); Jarai (Gia Lai); Stieng (Binh Phuoc); H’re (Quang Ngai); Ta Oi (Thua Thien Hue); San Diu (Tuyen Quang); Tay (Thai Nguyen); Nung (Lang Son); Thai (Son La); Muong (Thanh Hoa) or Katu (Da Nang).

The festival will reflect special cultural rituals associated with ethnic minority people’s spiritual life, expressing their aspirations for prosperity and happiness, said Le Tri Thanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam Province.

Lunar New Year’s Pole has an important spiritual role to play in various ethnic communities of Vietnam

It is also a chance for Quang Nam and other provinces and cities to promote their tourism potentials by introducing cultural identities and beautiful features of costumes, rituals, beliefs and traditional activities of ethnic minority people.

The festival also serves as a venue for people, nonprofessionals and artists of various ethnic minorities to have meetings and exchanges of experience, and provoke a sense of responsibility in the public for preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritages.

To the festival, visitors will have opportunity to discover and experience the nature and culture of the Katu ethnic minority (Tay Giang district) through tours organized by the Quang Nam Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in cooperation with the People's Committee of Tay Giang District.

The ceremony of setting up lunar New Year’s Pole and cultural exchange will run till June 13.
