Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung stated that, this event is a meaningful playground for diplomats from ASEAN nations, contributing to promoting mutual understanding, friendship and cooperation between diplomats. It also provides a good opportunity for all to learn more about core values: respect, responsibility, discipline and teamwork.
He also hoped the sport exchange programme will help boost sport movements among diplomats, officials and workers at ASEAN agencies and ASEAN embassies in Hanoi.
On behalf of the ASEAN diplomats, Ms. Maria Cynthia Pelay, Charge D'Affaires A.I. of the Philippine Embassy in Hanoi sincerely thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam for hosting the meaningful and practical sport exchange programme.
She underscored that Vietnam has had many initiatives to actively promote sports movements within the ASEAN Community, and that the programme has demonstrated Vietnam's strong commitment to the ASEAN Work Plan on Sports for 2016 - 2020.
Over 100 diplomats, officials and workers at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and ASEAN countries’ embassies in Hanoi participated in the sports exchange with 4 main events: football, table tennis, badminton and tennis.
