Ao Dai festival honouring Vietnamese beauties opened in Hoi An

PSNews - Each Ao Dai collection has been made using silk and brocade as a means of sending a message to the world that Vietnam is both a dynamic and friendly nation.  

The Vietnamese traditional Ao Dai collections of 18 domestic fashion designers were shown on June 14  at an outdoor venue in Hoi An, within the framework of this-year Ao Dai Festival.

The festival attracted more than 3,000 tourists, introducing the connection between Ao dai and each historical period of Vietnam, as well as the bonds between the costume and special cultural features of each regions across the nation.

The occasion marked the first performance involving local designers after a long pause due to national efforts to fight against the novel coronavirus epidemic.

Each Ao Dai collection has been made using silk and brocade as a means of sending a message to the world that Vietnam is both a dynamic and friendly nation.  

Vu Thi Phuong, General Director of Gami Hospitality – which runs the Hoi An Memories show and the organiser of the Ao dai festival said that, with the aim of conservating and promoting values of  Vietnamese cultural heritage, the group planned to run this show each year. 

Hoi An city in the central province of Quang Nam was recognised as a world cultural heritage site by UNESCO in 1999.

In 2019, it was named Asia’s Leading Cultural City Destination and one of the 13 most picturesque towns in Asia. The city was also among the top 15 cities in the world selected by the New York-based magazine Travel Leisure.
