Asia-Europe New Music Festival kicks off Oct. 12
In making the announcement, the organizers, the Vietnam Musicians’ Association, said the seven days of events are aimed at providing enjoyment for a broad variety of audiences, composers and musicians.
For this festival, the Association said they sought compositions from members from music organizations of countries throughout Asia and Europe. In total, roughly 200 entries were received from which 100 works were selected from musicians of 30 nations to perform.
The works will be performed by the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, Choir of Vietnam National Opera and Ballet, Chamber Orchestra of Vietnam National Academy of Music, Military University of Culture and Arts, and Choir of the National University of Art Education with the participation of several national and international celebrities.
Any composer’s piece that has been selected will be asked to conduct his or her own piece at the concert. Except for the opening ceremony, all the concerts during the festival are free to the public.
