Centuries-old dancing festival kicked off in Trieu Khuc Village

PSNews - The Trieu Khuc Village festival was kicked off on February 13 with its centuries-old dancing performed by men in women dress, attracting attention of hunreds of visitors. 

The Trieu Khuc Village festival is traditionally took place on the 9th day of the first lunar month. Joining this festival, visitors will have chance to enjoy the centuries-old dancing. 

The selected young men of Trieu Khuc Village will disguise themselves as young girls and dance in a feminine way. To be selected into the dancing team, the men must be Trieu Khuc villagers, elite with good morality. 

Village elders said that the "Con Di Danh Bong" dance of Trieu Khuc Village is centuries old and dates back to General Phung Hung leading a war of resistance against Chinese invaders
General Phung Hung decided to make camp in Trieu Khuc village to allow his soldiers to get some relaxation. However, with no women available, he let some of his troops dress up like young girls and orchestrated the dance to boost the men’s morale
The "Con di danh bong" dance attracting the attention of hundreds of visitors. 

The festival lasts until the 12th day of the first lunar month.
