Before the opening ceremony, delegates had visited at the commemorative house of offered flowers and incense to late Chairman of the Council of Ministers Pham Hung, an excellent student of President Ho Chi Minh and an outstanding revolutionary cadre of Vietnam.

According to the organizing board, the exhibition focuses on three main topics, including: Con Dao prison and the struggle of political prisoners (1862 - 1975), the construction and development of Con Dao Island (1975 - 2016), and the Con Dao vision to 2030.

Currently, Con Dao, previously known as “Hell On Earth”, has become a popular tourist destination in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, due to its natural beauty.

Con Dao was the most horrible hell in the world when people shudder to mention it. From the mid-19th century to 1975, Con Dao was transformed into a giant prison, detaining hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese patriots.

Here, more than 22,000 elite children of the country have fallen for the independence and freedom of the country. The tuberculosis, tiger cage, cow shed, rice grinding, bridge 914, Hang Duong cemetery … forever there, showing the spirit of brave, strong will of the people of Vietnam.
