The opening ceremony will take place on July 24 in the Center of Culture and Cinema of Phu Tho with two films: “Mat bien” (The eyes of the sea) by director Dang Thai Huyen (People's Army Film Studio) and the documentary “Ta con gui lua trong than” (I send fire in coal) by director Phan Minh Son (Giai Phong Film Joint Stock Company).
The film “The eyes of the sea” is a love story between Ngan, Thanh and Vy during the war. Ngan loves Thanh but her father forces her to marry Vy. However Ngan still loves Thanh. Thanh and Vy join the army on the same day.
When the war ends, Vy returns home to the joy of his family and neighbours but Thanh’s family receive his death certificate. Finally, Vy realises Ngan’s great love for the deceased, so he “liberates” Ngan. For her part, Ngan believes that one day, Thanh will come back home.
The documentary “I send fire in coal” talks about Mr. Lam Van Bang, a former prisoner in the prison on Phu Quoc island during the US war. He has traveled from the north to the south of the country to collect remembrances on his comrades. He formed the only private museums on former prisoners in Vietnam.
During the film week, the Film Department will also hold numerous exchange activities among authors, directors, actors and actresses of the screened films, as well as exchange programmes between film crews and audiences and officers, sick and wounded soldiers in Phu Tho.
Besides, other film centres across the country will also screen a range of films such as “Nha tien tri” (The Prophet), “Thau Chin o Xiem” (Thau Chin in Thailand), “Nhung dua con cua lang” (The village’s children), “Ha Noi Mua Dong Nam 46” (Hanoi in the Winter of 1946), “Bac Ho voi nong dan” (Uncle Ho with farmers).By Linh Bui
