Five Vietnamese films to compete at APFF

Five Vietnamese films will compete at the 58th Asia-Pacific Film Festival (APFF), which is set to take place in Taiwan, China on August 30 - September 2.

“Co Ba Sai Gon” (The Tailor)

They include “Co Ba Sai Gon” (The Tailor) by Ngo Thanh Van, “Dao cua dan ngu cu”(The Way Station) by Hong Anh, Co gai den tu hom qua (The girl from yesterday) by Phan Xi Ne, Khi Con La Nha (When You're Home) by Ngoc Dang, and Em chua 18(I'm not 18 yet - Jailbait) by Le Thanh Son.

The film, "Dao cua dan ngu cu” (The Way Station) by Hong Anh, has also received several important awards nominations at this year’s festival. Director Hong Anh and actress Ngoc Thanh Tam will be in attendance at the event.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on September 1, attracting the participation of famous filmmakers, actors, actresses, and media coverage from different countries in the region.

Actress and film producer Truong Ngoc Anh has been invited to serve on the jury for the Asia-Pacific Film Festival.

The Asia-Pacific Film Festival was first held in 1954 by the Board of Directors of the Federation of Motion Picture Producers in Asia-Pacific.

Awards will also be presented for the Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Sound, Best Music, Best Art Director, Best Documentary, and Best Animated Film.

Previously, several Vietnamese films won prestigious awards at the festival, including “Trung so” (Lottery Win), directed by Vietnamese-American Dustin Nguyen (Best Supporting Actor and Special Jury Award); Chon Que (Homeland), a documentary film by Viet Nam National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio (Best Documentary); and “Doi Cat” (Sandy Life) by Thanh Van (Best Film).
