HCMC to host first ever orchids festival

PSNews - The first ever orchids festival themed "Tropical colours" will take place from April 27 to May 1, at Tao Dan park, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street, No.1 district, Ho Chi Minh city.

Mr. Bui Van My, Director of the Center for Agricultural Consultancy and Support under the HCMC Municipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said: "Hosting this festival is a part of activities to celebrate 44th Anniversary of Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day and the International Labour Day, as well as other political, cultural and social events of the city in 2019". 

This event will also aim to introduce and promote high-quality orchids with great economic value; rare orchid varieties of each locality, contributing to connecting tourism development with urban agricultural development.  

Moreover, the first ever orchids festival will create opportunities for artisans and gardeners to exchange their experiences in growing and breeding orchids. The festival will include a various of activities including orchids exhibition, shaping orchids contest, workshop on using hi-tech in breeding orchids.

In addition to Tao Dan park, HCMC authorities announced that they will display orchids in many attractions of the city such as museums, Independence Palace, Nha Rong Port, along main roads within the urban area.
