To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the completion of the 60-days-and-nights campaign on February 17, 1947 in Hanoi, the "Past and Present" Historical Documentation Center under the Vietnamese Association of Historical Sciences in collaboration with the Ho Guom Information and Culture Center held a photo exhibition "Hanoi - 60 days and nights of tear and blood" in No.2 Le Thai To, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi.
The exhibition introduces some rare photos taken by Hanoi people, who came back to their homes right after the final battle was ended.
The photos taken by Tran Van Nhung (1905 - 1952), Tran Van Ve (1930 - 1988) and Nguyen Duy Kien (1911 - 1979) reflect a Hanoi with heavy damages caused by enemy bombs.

According to Mr. Duong Trung Quoc, General Secretary of the Historical Documentation Center, Editor in Chief of the Past and Present magazine, the phrase of "tears and blood" was significantly named to the exhibition as the phrase was used by the past soldiers to describe the campaign during the 60 days and night.
This exhibition will help people, especially young ones, retrace the boiling atmosphere of Hanoi in late 1946 and early 1947, when Hanoi people were responding to President Ho Chi Minh's appeal for national resistance war.
In addition, several photos of a modernized and civilized Hanoi taken by photographer Nguyen Huu Bao have been chosen to showcase there.
