"Hanoi - The City for Peace" book festival opens

PSNews - On the occastion of the 65th anniversary of the Capital’s Liberation Day (October 10, 1954), the Hanoi’s Department of Information and Communication on October 2 kicked off a book festival named "Hanoi - The City for Peace", attracting the attention of thousands of visitors.

This year’s event marks the sixth edition of the festival and is being jointly organised by Hanoi’s Department of Information and Communication, alongside a range of domestic publishing houses and book distributors nationwide.

With the theme "Hanoi - The City for Peace", the book festival introduces books and documents of domestic/international publishing houses and book distributors nationwide including: Children's books; literary and social books; economic, scientific and technical books; foreign language books; electronic books and digital devices…

Additionally, foreign embassies throughout Hanoi including those from France, India, Italy, Indonesia, and the Czech Republic are showcasing books from their respective nations and participating in cross-cultural exchange programmes during the five-day festival.

In particilar, during the opening ceremony held on October 2, the Hanoi People’s Committee unveiled a new book titled “Hanoi-20 years of the city for peace”. The release of the book aims to introduce Hanoi’s achievements after being recognised as the city of peace by the UNESCO 20 years ago.

Moreover, a wide range of activities are also taking place during the event, including exchanges between famous authors and book lovers, a storytelling competition, and a talk on astronomy.
