Hanoi likely to restore feudal-time exams at Temple of Literature

Under the plan in a favorable condition, the Center for Scientific and Cultural Activities of Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam will restore feudal-time exams, providing an insight into the ancient examination system for people and visitors.

According to Director of the Center for Scientific and Cultural Activities of Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam Le Xuan Kieu, visitors recently may know feudal-era education only through a few documents but they cannot imagine specific activities.
"If we can build an education museum at the Temple of Literature, visitors and people then can understand not only about the old-time process of learning and testing but also the cult of honor of ancient pundits and their contributions to the country," Mr. Le Xuan Kieu stressed.
Every year, the Center for Scientific and Cultural Activities of Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam in collaboration with the city’s education sector organizes many programs, aiming to popularize the Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam heritage to school students in the city.
The Temple of Literature also serves as the place to honor outstanding valedictorians of the Hanoi-based universities and colleges and to organize exhibitions of feudal examinations and seminars on stone steles with the names of doctors in old times.
