A group of artists have put the finishing touches to a mural featuring the flowers of Hanoi’s four seasons on a 40-metre-long and 2.2-metre-high dyke wall along Pho Duc Chinh Street near Truc Bach Lake.

The mural, just opposite Mac Dinh Chi Primary School, was completed after just ten days by Thu Thuy, Tran Dinh, Nguyen Phu, Dinh Huy, Nguyen Sy and Vu Tu of the New Hanoi Arts Group.

Featured in the mural are enlarged versions of the flowers typical to Hanoi, such as pink lotuses, white Easter lilies, orange gladioli, violets, dahlia and chrysanthemum, as well as flowers originating from Da Lat such as crane flowers and echeveria.

The vibrant flower garden on the long wall is also embellished with different shades of green leaves and the various colours of plants such as purple secretia, taro, umbrella palm, sago palm and toucan peak.

Painter Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the New Hanoi Arts Group, stated that “I’m very happy to see the kids rushing to the mural after school and asking one another the names of the flowers and plants on the mural.”

She added that public arts could bring happiness and excitement to the public, especially children, and expects Hanoi to have more murals similar to this to make the public and children love their city even more.

Earlier in March 2017, the New Hanoi Arts Group completed a mural themed Vietnamese tropical garden at Da Nang International Airport and won a bronze medal at the 10th International Design Awards.

Last January, the group also brought a new look to the Mirror House Thong Nhat Park with decorative ceramic pieces fixed onto the walls and roof of the house, which won the silver trophy at the International A’ Design Awards.
