Hanoi's liberation to be commemorated by Dragon Dance Festival 2019

The fifth version of the Dragon Dance Festival will take place in Hanoi on October 6 as part of a series of cultural activities held to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the city's liberation on October 10.

According to information released by the organising board on September 19, the intersection of Dinh Tien Hoang and Hang Dau in Hoan Kiem district will host the Hanoi Dragon Dance Festival 2019.
The event is set to draw the participation of dragon dancers from 15 districts from across the capital, including Ba Dinh, Gia Lam, Dong Anh, Tu Liem, Chuong My, and Thanh Tri.
A total of 17 prizes will be awarded to the winning teams. Aside from the first, second, third, and consolation prizes, organisers will give prizes for the most well-decorated dragon, and the most creative dance.
Following the dragon dance and an award ceremony, participants will parade around Ho Guom, also known as Sword Lake, creating a joyful and festive atmosphere for both local people and foreign tourists.
