“Homeland’s sea and islands” photo contest launched

PSNews – 20 outstanding photos of the “Homeland’s sea and islands” photo contest will be showcased at an exhibition of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists. 

Upon Decision 1422-QD/BTGTW dated June 22, the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism launched the photo contest “Homeland’s sea and islands”.

According to the organizing board, this photo contest aims at introduce and promote the role, potentiality, and beauty of the seas and islands of Vietnam to domestic and international art lovers, raising the spirit of patriotism, national pride and sense of responsibility for the sea and island of Vietnamese people.

In addition, it will help Vietnam affirm legitimate rights and interests in East Sea as well as guidelines and policies of the Party and the State in dealing with maritime sovereignty issues, in accordance with the provision of Vietnam and international law.

The competition is open to Vietnamese people and foreigners working and living in Vietnam from all ages. Participants are encouraged to submit photos under specific topics, including the beauty of nature, people in the sea, islands of Vietnam; life moments, daily activities, customs, the habits and cultures of coastal people in Vietnam;

photos of visitor’s experiences with local people on sea and islands; protecting the security, order, safety and sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Vietnamese armed forces; praising outstanding individuals; economic activities and images showing the friendship cooperation of Vietnam and other countries in the East Sea; cultural works, artforms, festivals in the sea and islands of Vietnam.

Contestants can submit their images through the website: www.anhnghethuatbiendao2018.com. The deadline for applications is midnight on August 31st, 2018.

The contest winner will get a cash prize of VND 15 million (USD 645), while the runner and third place will take VND 10 million (USD 430) and VND 7 million (USD 301, respectively. There will be also ten consolation prizes.

In particular, 20 outstanding photos of the “Homeland’s sea and islands” photo contest will be showcased at an exhibition of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists.
