Mong cultural festival 2016 to take place in Ha Giang

A cultural festival of Mong ethnic people will take place between November 18 and 20 in the northern province of Ha Giang with the participation 13 provinces nationwide.

The event, themed preservation and promotion of Mong cultural identity amid integration, will feature a musical concert, a traditional costume fashion show, custom demonstrations, and a food festival, heard press conference held in Hanoi on November 8.

Native sports competitions and folk games of the community as well as tours around the Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark are also set to take place.

Participating provinces, where Mong people reside, include Lao Cai and Cao Bang in the north, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An in the central region and Dak Lak in the Central Highlands.

The opening ceremony of the festival will be aired live on Vietnam Television as well as Ha Giang television and radio channels.

Earlier, a three-day cultural space of the Mong ethnic group in Ha Giang will open at Ly Thai To park in downtown Hanoi on November 11.
