Photo exhibition on Vietnamese pagodas opens
PSNews - With the aim of preserving the beauty of Vietnamese cultural heritages while enhancing people's awareness on conservation activities, French photographer Nicolas Cornet has spent 3 years travelling across Vietnam, from the North to the South, and visited many temples and pagodas.
The photo exhibition themed “Vietnamese pagodas” was kicked off on November 9 at the French Cultural Center L’Espace, drawing the participation of domestic and foreign visitors. |
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nicolas Cornet said: “I want to preserve the beauty of Vietnamese cultural heritages and to help Vietnamese people and whoever love Vietnamese culture “realize that temples and pagodas of Vietnam are an important part of the national cultural heritage”. |
He hoped that such knowledge and awareness would lead to the application of scientific methods in the preservation of these heritages. |
The exhibition reflects a journey to trace old temples in Vietnam held by French photographer Nicolas Cornet during the past three years. |
French Ambassador to Vietnam Bertrand Lortholary emphasized that the photo exhibition owns a very sacred meaning in terms of culture, especially, the exhibition took place immediately after the French Prime Minister's successful visit to Vietnam. |
He also believes that through this cultural event, people of the two countries will stay closer, contributing to strengthening and enhancing the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and France |
Nicolas Cornet is a French journalist and professional photographer. He is the author of dozens of books and nearly a hundred of articles. Nicolas Cornet has exhibited his photos in France, Switzerland and many Asian countries. |
The “Vietnamese Pagodas” photo exhibition will last until December 12. |
