Quang Ninh in the past through lens of French photographer

PSNews - The precious photos about Quang Ninh in the early 20th century by French photographer Pierre Dieulefils recorded the whole view Ha Long Bay from above such as Hon Gai town, Cua Luc bay and Hon Nhan Su.

Pierre Dieulefils (1861-1937) was a French photographer and postcard publisher based in Indo-China. After arriving in Tonkin in 1885 as a soldier he went on to establish a photographic studio in Hanoi and exhibited at the 1889 Paris World Fair.

French photographer Pierre Dieulefils had an excellent reputation as a photographer throughout Europe and Indochina. He won many medals at Universal Exhibitions. |
It is estimated that he produced approximately five thousand photos and postcards and he is considered one of the greatest photographers of the region. |
His photographic expeditions included such locales as Vietnam, China, and Cambodia. |
