During a 20-days long excavation, the researchers have discovered the ruins of Cha Ray tower, which is believed to have been built between the 11th and 12th centuries.

The main tower was built on the top of the hill with an 80m2 foundation area, with a 1.7m wide main door facing southeast. A smaller structure is located to the North of the main temple and its foundation is 3m lower than the main building’s one.

Currently, the researcher has unearthed the foundations, tiles, and roofing materials. The roofing discovered was similar to the one found in previous Khmer temple precincts excavation, which, according to several Japanese researchers, features architectural elements dating back to the 11th and 12th centuries.
