PSNews - The Nguyen Hue Flower Street 2020, which is the annual biggest event of Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of Lunar New Year, officially opened from January 22.

From January 22 to 28, this pedestrian boulevard is transformed with elaborate flower displays, artwork, and LED lights.

Themed “Ho Chi Minh City – Confidently Stepping Forward”, the flower street this year aims to deliver the message of traditional values and the fruitful achievements of the city, at the same time affirming the efforts of local authority and people to build a more beautiful city in the future.

The flower way stretches nearly 700 meters down Nguyen Hue street, divided into 3 sessions and decorated using environmentally friendly materials in a harmonious combination of natural, traditional, and modern elements.

As 2020 is the year of Rat, therefore, Rat is chosen as the sacred animal of Nguyen Hue Flower Street this year. 130 mascots are also created along the street.

The first session, named “The spring of Heaven and Earth – The spring of Humanity”, illustrates the traditional Tet holiday of Vietnamese people.

In particular, the entrance features a rat family playing music, which takes inspiration from the famous Dong Ho painting 'Dam Cuoi Chuot' (Rat’s Wedding), a kind of Vietnamese folk art known for its simple yet natural beauty.

The second session, named “Developed city- Stable belief”, takes its ideas from the climate change phenomenon that is happening globally.

Climate change has a cameo appearance in this year’s flower street, being the inspiration for one of the mini-scenes in the design. Titled 'Spring Painting,' it features tornado-like structures that symbolize the force of nature.

The third session, named “Modern city – Rising step”, features a garden inspired by the Cloud Forest attraction at Singapore’s famous Gardens by the Bay nature park.

The flower way ends with a massive kinetic sculpture measuring five meters in diameter, mimicking the motions of a flower.

The event is sponsored by the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee, Saigontourist Holding Company and other agencies and businesses.

The flower show has been held for 17 consecutive years and it attracts more than one million visitors each year.
