The Netherlands presents rare historical documents to Vietnam

PSNews – The Vietnam Film Institute (VFI) in Hanoi organized a ceremony on October 19 to receive rare films and documents about Vietnam from the Medical Committee Netherlands-Vietnam (MCNV) and the European Foundation Joris Ivens.

The MCNV handed over 29 documentary films shot in Vietnam in the 1970s by foreign filmmakers to the Vietnamese side while the European Foundation Joris Ivens presented 4 films, 2,000 documentary journals, 140 photos and posters made by Joris Ivens from 1965 and 1968.

These films,documentaries, documents and pictures, which have won international awards, are famous worldwide. In particular, the documentary “Meeting President Ho Chi Minh” is among the last footages and voice records of President Ho Chi Minh made by foreign people.

Meanwhile, documentary“The 17th Parallel – The People’s War” is considered the most impressive film about Vietnam by Joris Ivens. The film, shot in Quang Tri in 1967, was honored with the Lenin Peace prize.
