The cheerful Golden Festival marks founding anniversary of ASEAN

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the ASEAN Women Community’s Circle in Hanoi (AWCH) on August 26 hosted the ASEAN Golden Festival in Hanoi to mark the 50th founding anniversary of the ASEAN.

The event witnessed the presence of Mrs. Tran Nguyet Thu, the spouse of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc; Ambassador Nguyen Nguyet Nga, Honorary President of ASEAN Women Community’s Circle in Hanoi (AWCH); Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Ngo Thi Thu Hang; representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ambassadors from ASEAN countries and other countries in Hanoi.

The opening ceremony of this year's ASEAN Gold Festival showed different unique art performances reflecting the culture of the member countries in the ASEAN community.
Speaking at the event, AWCH Honorary President Nguyen Nguyet Nga, who is the spouse of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, affirmed that we are proud to witness the transformation of ASEAN from a divided region with conflicts and poverty to an area of peace, unity and prosperity, a community of self-reliance, dynamism and solidarity, a family with shared vision and a common identity.
Mrs. Nguyet Nga highlighted that ASEAN is now playing a central role in the region and holding a rising position in the Asia-Pacific region and the world.

The ASEAN Gold Festival program was divided into different areas, including the ASEAN pavilions, games area, cuisine area, and photo gallery about  ASEAN.
Within the program, representatives of ASEAN countries have introduced to people the culture and cuisine of their country. Some traditional dances from Laos, Thailand were also performed on the stage of the program.
There were many famous dishes of ASEAN member countries presented at the Golden Festival such as Brunei's Nasi lemak, Cambodia's Amok fish, Indonesia's satay chicken or Malaysian milk tea.
This was an opportunity for Hanoian to have a deeper understanding about the ASEAN community as well as the country and people of each member country.
