Thousands of visitors head to An Giang for Bay Nui bull racing festival
This year's festival witnessed the participation of 64 pairs of oxen from the Districts of Tri Ton, Tinh Bien, Chau Phu, Chau Thanh (An Giang Province) and Giang Thanh, Hon Dat, Kien Luong Districts of Kien Giang Province.
The Bull Racing Festival is a traditional ritual of the Khmer ethnic minority to commemorate the merits of their ancestors and wish for happiness and peace for their souls.
It is also considered as the biggest festival of the year in the Mekong River Delta region, attracting a large number of local people and visitors.
After a competitive day, the pair of oxen No.7 of Mr. Chau Suol (Tinh Bien District, An Giang Province) won the race. The runner up was the pair No.45 of Mr. Duong Van Hiep and the third prize came to the pair No.25 owned by Le Van Phang.
