Vibrant atmosphere at elephant and boat racing festivals on Lak Lake

PSNews – The elephant and boat racing festivals, taking place at Lak lake of Lien Son town, Lak district, Dak Lak province from March 12, have attracted thousands of local people as well as domestic and foreign visitors.

The festivals, held within the framework of the 6th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival and the Central Highlands Gong Culture Festival 2017, to celebrate the 42th Dak Lak Province Liberation Day and 42th Lak District Liberation Day.
The traditional festival is held in every two years with the aims of introducing and promoting the potential of ecotourism and culture of the province, honoring the cultural values of the ethnic minority groups living in the Central Highlands. Especially the festival revives the Lak district’s residents’ traditions of hunting and domesticating elephants as well as creating dugout canoe.
This year, 13 elephants participated in the races with two categories: on land and in water.
A dugout canoe race with more than 100 competitors was also held on Lak Lake, attracting a large crowd of locals and tourists.Photos of the festivals:
