PSNews - Vietnam has been honored with 4 categories of the annual prestigious World Travel Awards Asia and Oceania 2019, including the Asia’s Leading Culinary Destination titlle.

The latest World Travel Awards has chosen Vietnam as “Asia’s Leading Culinary Destination” reaffirming the growing international reputation of Vietnamese cuisine.

The World Travel Awards Asia and Oceania 2019 was organized on Phu Quoc Island, a popular tourist destination off the southern Vietnamese province of Kien Giang, on October 13. This is the third time the event has taken place in Vietnam. It was previously held in the central city of Da Nang in 2016 and Phu Quoc Island in 2017.

At this year’s ceremony, Vietnam was honoured with the title of Asia’s Leading Destination for the second year in a row, together with the Asia’s Leading Cultural Destination award.

It is the first time the country has achieved this honor though Vietnamese cuisine has already won considerable praise from international tourists and got rave reviews from prestigious travel magazines.

Hoi An, a tourist city in the central province of Quang Nam and home to Hoi An Ancient Town – a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was named Asia's Leading Cultural City Destination.

The World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourist and hospitality industries.

Vietnam’s victories in many categories for the world’s prestigious awards affirmed Vietnamese tourism’s position on the world’s travel map as well as contributes to promoting the image of the country to international community.
