Vietnam to host Miss Grand International 2017

Miss Grand International 2017 will be held in the three Vietnamese provinces of Quang Binh, Thua Thien-Hue and Kien Giang.

The information was announced at the Miss Grand International 2016 finale in Las Vegas, the US, on October 25.

At the finale of Miss Grand International 2016, a short two-minute video introducing Vietnam and its people was also shown, showing the popular tourist destination of Ha Long Bay and Hoi An as well as Hue royal court music and the ordinary life of local fishermen.

The Miss Grand International 2017 is scheduled to take place in Quang Binh, Thua Thien-Hue and Kien Giang on October 5-25 next year. The final round will be organised at Phu Quoc Islands in Kien Giang Province.

This will be the second time that Vietnam has been chosen to host an international beauty pageant, having hosted the Miss Universe Pageant in 2008. 

Head of the Department of Performing Arts Nguyen Dang Chuong said that the event will be a very good occasion to promote Vietnam.

Miss Grand International is among the five largest beauty contests in the world, attracting participants from 80-90 countries.

During the contest, the participants often visit and support war-affected children; join other charity activities and contribute to efforts for peace. The competition includes swimsuit and national costume performance; preliminary round and final round.

Vietnamese contestant Nguyen Thi Loan is in the top 20 at Miss Grand International 2016 held in the US on October 9-26. She is also among the pageant’s top 10 in the best national costume round.
