Vietnamese cities receive ASEAN Clean Tourist Awards
Hoi An city in Quang Nam province, Hue city in Thua Thien-Hue province and Da Lat city in Lam Dong province have been presented with ASEAN Clean Tourist Awards, and the titles will be valid for 2018-2020.

- Ninh Binh works to become tourism hub of Vietnam by 2020
- Dien Bien, Luang Prabang provinces tighten cultural, tourism links
Vice Chairman of the Hoi An People’s Committee Nguyen Van Son said the three cities had been listed in the awards in 2017, and the awards were given by the Vietnam National Tourism Administration in a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City last weekend.
Son said this is the first time the UNESCO-recognised world heritage site has won the award with its position as a ‘green’ destination as well as the preservation of unique culture.
The city’s leadership and local residents of the three cities were aware of environment protection and a healthy environment for tourism, Son said.
The awards also honoured good traffic infrastructure and environmentally-friendly transportation.
The title, which was part of the ASEAN Tourism Awards, honoured 11 other winners at the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2018 in Thailand earlier this year, including five ASEAN Green Hotel Awards; one ASEAN Sustainable Tourism Award; and five MICE Venue Awards.
In 2014, Hoi An was voted among the best 25 destinations in the world by travel website TripAdvisor, and was chosen for the 2013 Townscape Award by the UN-Habitat Regional Office in Asia.
