Vietnamese cultural week impresses Japanese friends

A Vietnamese cultural week has been successfully organized at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) in Beppu, Oita prefecture of Japan.

During the week, the university’s hall with nearly 1,000 seats was packed out with international friends, Oita locals, and Vietnamese students and youth who are living and studying in Oita and surrounding regions.

The event featured a wide range of cultural, art and cuisine promotion activities, such as a village festival, a parade, a Hanoi-Thang Long event, and an introduction of Vietnamese cuisine and folk games.

More than 200 students from different countries joined an opera “Bi mat vuon Le Chi” (Le Chi Garden's Secret), the highlight of the week, which introduced a Japanese audience to Vietnam’s land, people and culture through traditional and modern art performances.

The cultural exchange activities made a strong impression on thousands of international students and locals, helping to elevate people-to-people exchanges and deepen the extensive strategic partnership between the the two nations.

The APU was set up in 2000 in Oita prefecture with nearly 3,000 Japanese students and approximately 3,000 international students from 90 countries, including more than 500 Vietnamese.
