"Vietnamese traditional folk paintings" exhibition opens

PSNews - The Hai Phong Museum in collaboration with the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum on January 20 kicked off an exhibition themed" Vietnamese traditional folk paintings", aiming to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values ​​of the nation.

Deputy Director of Vietnam Fine Arts Museum Tran Thi Huong said that, the traditional Vietnamese folk paintings play an important role in the treasure of national cultural heritage. Many generations of Vietnam Fine Arts Museum staff have been researching, collecting and preserving Vietnamese traditional folk paintings.

This exhibition introduces typical paintings, selected from the collection of traditional folk paintings of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, with many famous folk painting systems such as Dong Ho (Bac Ninh) Hang Trong (Hanoi) and pictures of the Tay and Cao Lan ethnic groups.

The topics shown in this exhibition are daily activities, reflecting the working life, production of farmers, and country markets. There are also worship themes that carry beliefs, spirituality. 

These familiar themes have created a solid position in Vietnamese folk paintings in the history and cultural traditions of the nation, becoming a distinctive feature in the Vietnamese spiritual life.

The exhibition "Vietnamese traditional folk paintings" will bring viewers an overall view about the beauty of traditional culture, contributing to preserving and promoting the precious traditional values ​​of the nation; brings viewers an overall view, the beauty of traditional culture, bold national identity, folk style and high artistic character.

The exhibition will last until April 2021.
