Visitors cheer up at wrestling festival of Sinh village

The traditional wrestling festival in Sinh village takes place each year on the occasion of the lunar New Year with the aims of praying for bumper crops, and a year of success.
This year’s wrestling festival, which was held on February 6th in Phu Mau commune, Phu Vang district, Thua Thien Hue province, attracted thousands of residents and visitors.

The event also drew the participation of nearly 100 male wrestlers at different ages from many localities of Thua - Thien Hue province.
From early morning, residents and tourists flocked to Sinh village for the wrestling competitions. They stood around the arena, cheering up and encouraging burly wrestlers.
As other wrestling festivals in Thua Thien Hue, to win the competition, the wrestler must topple his component supinely on the sand floor while the referee finishes counting to three.
According to seniors in Sinh village, the wrestling festival is considered a valuable cultural activity in spring so locals have tried their best to preserve and promote it.
