Y Ty gets a fresh coat of snow

PSNews - Snow fell on forested areas in the mountainous Y Ty commune in Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province on the morning of January 11 due to the prolonged cold spell.
With white snow falling on many roads throughout Y Ty Commune in Bat Xat District of Lao Cai province, local residents were reminded of beautiful images of Europe, although this was the first time in living memory that snow has come to the area.
According to the PSNews' reporter, light snowfall appeared with a thickness of 5-10 cm by 10am on January 11.
Y Ty villages in Bat Xat District like Mo Phu Chai (pictured), Phin Ho, Trung Chai, and Phan Can Su all experienced significant snowfall between the hours of late Sunday night and early Monday.
Local temperature dropped to minus one degree Celsius. The bout of frost and snow has drawn scores of visitors to Y Ty, which is 2,000 meters above sea level.
By 10 a.m. Monday, snowfall had ceased and paths could be cleared.

Snow serves to block the road in Y Ty Commune, creating a scene that is reminiscent of winter in Europe.
The Y Ta forest is made up of tall trees, especially at the crossroads turn down to Nhiu Co San Primary School and the walkway to Trinh Tuong commune, both of which were fully covered with snow.
. Y Ty, located about 70 km to the north of resort town Sa Pa, is home to H’mong, Dao, Giay and Ha Nhi ethnic minority groups.
