1,680 billion VND compensated to victims of environmental pollution in 4 provinces

PSNews – The Ministry of Finance has temporally made an advance payment of VND 1,680 billion to compensate local residents in 4 provinces who have badly been affected by the maritime environmental incident. 

Specifically, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue provinces will respectively receive 560 billon VND, 760 billion VND, 160 billion VND and 200 billion. Earlier, the Ministry of Finance made an advance payment of 3,000 billion VND in the third quarter of 2016 to make up for local residents of the four mentioned provinces.

Compensation rates were issued by the Prime Minister in late September 2016. Accordingly, 7 business groups to enjoy benefits include fishing, aquaculture, salt production, coastal fishery businesses, fishery logistics services, tourism, coastal trade,  and seafood stockpiling.

The sum has been part of the compensation of Hung Nghiep Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Co.Ltd, which caused massive fish deaths along the coastline of the 4 provinces after the company illegally discharged wastewater into the sea. 

The Ministry of Finance also reports, in January 2017, the State Budget revenue is expected to reach 97.4 trillion VND, equal to 8% of the 2017 estimated State Budget revenue and 103.9% of the January 2016 figure. Meanwhile, the total State spending was estimated to reach 87.25 trillion VND or 6.3%  of the total estimated State spending, in January 2017.
