PSNews - Eighteen sets of remains of Vietnamese soldiers and expert volunteers who passed away in Laos during wartime were on May 7 buried with full honours in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.

Authorities of the central province of Thua Thien-Hue Tuesday held a memorial service for remains of 18 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who laid down their lives in Laos during wartime on May 7.

The remains were repatriated by repatriation team 192 of the Thua Thien-Hue Military Command in seven months during the 2018-19 dry season in Salavan and Sekong provinces in Laos.

The funeral took place at the city’s martyr cemetery with representatives from the government of Vietnam, Military Region 4 of the Vietnam People’s Army, Salavan and Sekong provinces in attendance. Many local military officials and people also came to pay their last respect to the late soldiers.

They offered incenses and flowers to the deceased to show their gratitude towards the martyrs’ braveness and sacrifices.

On May 8, 26 sets of remains of Vietnamese soldiers and expert volunteers who passed away in Laos during wartime were on Wednesday buried with full honours in the central province of Quang Tri. Their remains were laid to rest at the Road 9 National Martyrs’ Cemetery in Dong Ha city.

It was the 33rd time Quang Tri Province has received remains of Vietnamese soldiers and volunteers who died in Laos.

According to reports, nearly 35,000 Vietnamese soldiers died in Laos in the wartime and 60,000 others returned home as war invalids.
