3,600 students from 65 nations compete in The World Scholar’s Cup

The global academic event was held at the National Convention Center and Vinschool, providing precious opportunities for students to meet each other, exchange their knowledge and improve their skills in international communications.

In the past years, the Global Round of The World Scholar’s Cup, the well-known team academic competition, was held in various cities in the world, including Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai or Singapore. This year’s competition has marked an important milestone as its global round was held in Vietnam for the first time. Vinschool was the co-organizer and  host of the competition in Vietnam.

The Global Round of the World Scholar's Cup 2017 took place in Hanoi from the end of June to the beginning of July. More than 3,600 students from 65 countries attended the Opening Ceremony. The competition challenges students to knowledge of politics, society, science - technology, history, literature, music and arts.

After the opening ceremony, all contestants went to Vinschool for the first event: the Collaborative Writing with this year’s theme “An Unlikely World.”

The second event was Team Debate, when participating teams showed off their knowledge in debates.

Cuisine is often one of the special experiences of contestants. As the host, Vinschool prepared three European and Asian food and vegetarian sections to serve more than 3,600 international students with a variety of options. Many commented: “Vietnamese food is great”!

In addition to the medals, the skills gained during the competition and exchanges with international friends were significant awards for the students participating the Global Round of The World Scholar’s Cup 2017.

After the Global Round, the Organizing Committee selected the best contestants for the final round to be held at Yale University in the United States in November 2017.

In 2016, two students from Vinschool won gold medals in the final round held at Yale University.
