This project, including building of a new terminal (T2), extension of the apron and upgrading of other facilities, costs some 3 trillion VND, coming from the development investment fund of ACV.
The number of passengers and flights currently served by Vinh Airport nearly exceeds the designed capacity, according to an official report from ACV. Additionally, the good road networks linking between Nghe An and its neighboring localities would create favorable conditions for this airport to further develop in the time to come.
Therefore, it is necessary to invest in the building and upgrading of the airport.
Under the project, the capacity of the T2 terminal will be 5 million passengers/year and can reach 10 million passengers/year if further extended. The sub-project will cost some 1.6 trillion VND (excluding expenses for land clearance) and is expected to finish by Q4 of 2020.
