The trio include Le Van Phuong, 46, Tran Van Cam, 55, and Nguyen Tan Van, 56.
The QNa 91928 TS squid fishing boat was being captained by Bui Van Quoc, 42, and carrying 44 fishermen on board when it lost contact with the mainland at 8:00 on September 2.
With a tropical depression approaching the area, the boat began to sink as it attempted to dock at Thuyen Chai island to shelter from the extreme weather.
The vessel was later discovered by local authorities at 8:00 on September 3, located 35 nautical miles off of Thuyen Chai island. Rescue crews were able to save 41 crew members who were in poor condition.
The Quang Nam provincial Border Guard Command has mobilised 10 fishing boats and a KN 420 vessel to assist in the search for the three fishermen.
