42 students hospitalized after lunch in Ninh Thuan

PSNews - A food poisoning  incident occurred on December 7 at the Ninh Phuoc Boarding School for Ethnic Minority Students resulted in 42 students hospitalized. 

The Ninh Phuoc Boarding School for Ethnic Minority Students is currently teaching 260 students of ethnic minorities in Ninh Phuoc district (Ninh Thuan province).

The lunch and dinner are cooked by the school’s workers and served at the school cafeteria under the State policy for ethnic minority students. However, the breakfast for the students of the school is provided by a private food caterer in Phan Rang-Thap Cham City.

On December 7 morning, after the breakfast with sticky rice and Vietnamese sausage,  the students started vomiting and experienced stomachaches and diarrhea. 42 students with the most serious symptoms were hospitalized to the Ninh Phuoc district health center.

By midday, 6 students had been discharged, 36 other cases were still at the centre for further treatment of food poisoning.

The Ninh Thuan Provincial Health Department has  instructed relevant agencies to collect food samples and specimens for testing, and identify the origin
